Juli Johnson
Juli is a fifth generation daughter of the land and has never lived too far away from it. She grew up on a farm in Meeker County, Minnesota and raised her children on a farm nearby. She has surrounded herself with books since she was a child and loves the written word. She has been telling and writing stories her whole life and wrote a cooking column for 17 years called “From the Kitchen at Cricket Meadow,” featured in the Litchfield Independent Review. She has recently written 3 children’s books, “Chauncey and the Chickens,” “Chauncey and Whitey the Rooster,” and “Chauncey and the Runaway Rabbit.” Her most recent book is a memoir with recipes entitled “Food, Feathers and Fur: Cooking and Critters From the Farm at Cricket Meadow.” Her latest book, “Like a Weed: Growing Deep Roots on a Minnesota Farm,” released in the Spring of 2024.
Juli has a Mass Communications degree and owned and operated Cricket Meadow Tea Café in downtown Litchfield for 7 years, closing in 2015. While she currently calls North Carolina home, she spends her summers in Montana and Minnesota. She has 3 grown children and 5 grandchildren and counts it her greatest blessing in life to be able to live near each of them throughout the year.
